This longer round trip gives the opportunity to stay in different towns – Bad Reichenhall being well worth a 2 night stay. Finding accommodation is no problem.
Day 1
To Kaprun (60km)
Along the river Sarlach – wonderful scenery
Day 2
To Saalfelden (29km)
A good ride through Zell am See along the lakeside, then through Maishofen and on to Saalfelden – some lovely scenery along the way.
Day 3
To Bad Reichenhall (61km)
A wonderful ride, particularly to Unken – superb scenery and easy riding. Haiderhof is a good place to stop for lunch – at the top of a hill!!! The ride from there is fairly difficult on rough track with some steep hills (both up and down!). We had to walk some of these! A good run then into Bad Reichenhall along the river.
Day 4
Around Bad Reichenhall
A very pleasant town in which to spend a rest day – shops to browse, cafes and restaurants to enjoy, or just strolling beside the river – all very enjoyable. We stayed in very comfortable accommodation at Gastehaus Eisenrieth Luitpold Str. 23 info@hotel-eisenrieth.de
Day 5
To Lofer (31km)
The return journey again involves the rough track up to Haiderhof but after a rest day, no problem! Sometimes it’s good to walk!!! The ride from Haiderhof to Lofer is very pleasant, hilly in parts with one long one after Unken, but not bad by any means! Plenty of accommodation in Lofer.
Day 6
Zell am See (51km)
Another wonderful ride with superb scenery – especially in the sunshine! A lovely stretch between Weissbach and Saalfelden. We’ve often enjoyed a welcome drink at the Minigolf platz on the far side of Saalfelden – and sometimes had the energy to have a game! There is quite a long hill after this (but not too difficult).
Day 7
To Mittersill (50km)
A fairly easy, leisurely ride to Mittersill where plenty of accommodation is available – the residential areas close to the town square often show “Zimmer Frei”.
Day 8
To Wald (31km)
A good ride back to Wald, passing through various villages along the way.
